Our Memories: Jacob Haslett

Jacob Haslett, Staff Writer

For as long as I could remember I had stage fright. I was terrified of talking in front of a group larger than a handful of people. One day we were given an assignment to write and present a motivational speech. In trying to figure out how to write this speech I decided on making it, in essence, my life story. I didn’t realize until I had to present it how hard it would be to not only stand in front of the class and read it off, but also to open up to so many people at once. To my suprise I was able to get through the whole speech without breaking down. Now I look back on that day as the day, I would say, I regained confidence in myself.
