This school year is flying by. We are already through our first month of the 2019 school year and are quickly coming up on our first official vacation.  Fall Break 2019 begins September 30th and continues through October 4th. Personally, I look to Fall Break to relax and unwind before another full month and a half of school. In the past, I have used Fall Break to visit Hawaii and Maine, but this year, I will meet in between the two in California. The weather of Fall Break makes it ideal to go somewhere tropical or somewhere freezing cold. By traveling somewhere in either of these climates, you can either get the last taste of warm weather or a slight preview of what the Fall and Winter seasons may bring. Maybe you have big plans this year, but if not, there are definitely some hot spots that you may want to visit.

Students were interviewed to see how they would use their Fall Break. Varieties in reasoning, destinations, and travel groups occur between these students, while a common thread can connect the travelers.

DJ Fratt:

Where are you headed for fall break?

Ontario, Canada.

Who are you traveling with?

I am traveling with my three cousins to Vermont.

Why did you choose your destination?

We wanted to see Canada.

Why are you traveling there for Fall Break instead of during another break?

We figured the weather would be good.

MJ Fitzpatrick:

Where are you headed for fall break?

I’m going to Universal Studios Orlando, then I’m going to Tampa Bay and the beach.

Who are you traveling with?

I’m traveling with my parents.

Why did you choose your destination?

I chose there because I haven’t been to Universal for a long time, and my parents want to go to the beach, so we combined ideas.

Why are you traveling there for Fall Break instead of during another break?

I’m going to Universal for fall break instead of another break because I want to see my friend ASAP, and it isn’t ever as busy for fall break, and the weather is nice.

Izzy Busse

I am headed to my kitchen.

Who are you traveling with?

Hopefully, no one.

Why did you choose your destination?

I am constantly hungry because I don’t get enough sleep.

Why are you traveling there for Fall Break instead of during another break?

Jokes on you, I go there every break.

Including these four contributors, a total of 66% of my surveyed population is staying at home. That is by far the majority. 16% are headed to a beachy environment, 10% are visiting family in various parts of the U.S., and a mere 6% are taking a trip out west. Long story short, if you’re staying at home, you’re in good company.
