Ice skating has always been a loved winte r festivity and it has finally arrived in Forsyth county. Mayor Troy Brumbalow has worked hard these past few months in order to make this winter dream a reality. The Winter Wonderland in Cumming Ice Skating Rink opened Thanksgiving day and won’t close until January 7th of 2019. The rink is located in the Cumming Fairgrounds off of Castleberry Road.

The Winter Wonderland Ice Skating Rink was created in order to provide the people of Forsyth County with a fun winter activity in a general location that is accessible to all. For those who are looking into going, admission is $12 for all ages for an hour of skating and includes skate rental. Skating isn’t the only winter activity available at the fairgrounds this year. Other seasonal favorites such as hayrides, a Christmas lights display, holiday music, hot cocoa and s’mores will be present for those who are attending.

“I love ice skating and am glad that Cumming opened this one closer to where I live so that I won’t have to drive so far away in order to go ice skating.” shared Sarah Harding, a student of Forsyth Central High School. The rink has already been a great hit with the community and has received many praises.

Mayor, Troy Brumbalow, has many hopes for the ice rink sharing that if it goes well this year, there’s a great possibility that it will return next year. In this cold winter weather the south is having right now, a larger crowd might be expected to come out in order to brace the cold and have some fun. “We’re going to have two to three big events there in December that will help draw people to it,” Brumbalow said.

Other events include:

Christmas in Cumming Arts & Crafts Festival

December 7 @ 10:00 am – December 8 @ 5:00 pm

Christmas Parade

December 15 @ 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
