My name is Shauna Benning. I am a senior at Forsyth Central High School. I have lived in Forsyth County for nine years, but was born in Atlanta. When I was younger, I wanted to be a fashion designer because I have always had my own unique sense of style, but in tenth grade, I decided I wanted to pursue a Law Career. Writing has always been a passion of mine because I love communicating through art. Many people may not consider journalism an art, but the manipulation of language to tell the audience a story may be one of the most powerful art forms there is. I love theatre and have been in nine plays and two musicals. I also paint, write poetry and songs, and create beautiful make-up looks. School has always been a big part of my life and I love to learn about new topics. My two favorite subjects are literature and history, and I love when I can combine the two. I used to hate math, but have recently found a passion for it because of my perfectionist ways. If I don’t understand something, I will study it until I feel confident. This summer I watched 112 academic youtube videos! Some people think I’m a nerd because I dedicate so much to my studies, but I believe it will pay off in the long run. I actually really enjoy taking standardized tests like AP exams, the SAT, and the ACT because I love preparing and then being able to show off my skills. I always challenge myself to get a perfect score and I believe that I will achieve this goal soon. I love traveling and seeing the beauty the world has to offer. I have been to England, Ireland, Wales, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas. I am currently planning a trip to Canada for spring break. I love being able to see how other people live and witness their diverse cultures. London is my favorite of all the cities I have been to. The fashion and fast-paced nature of the city really spoke to me. I am a major food lover and I love trying new dishes, but spaghetti and wings will always be my favorites.
