As the 2017 year begins some of us are sad to see the years fly by, some of us are excited, and others are just annoyed at having to cross out the six on the tops of their papers and turn them into makeshift seven. But there is a lot more changing than just the number on the tops of our papers. As the year kicks off, people are reveling in the idea of a new beginning and their fresh start as they make their list of “new year, new me” goals.

Since it is a new year we all understand why you’d want to work on that summer body. You see many fads like waist training and think, how hard could it be to squeeze into one of those organ deforming death traps. You see these miraculous diets where if you eat one bowl of lettuce a day then you too can have that Beyonce body…. Let’s be real. We all know that those late night trips to the fridge aren’t just going to disappear and we are all just as confused as you are as to how those empty pop tart wrappers managed to sneak their way under your bed. And yes, those early morning runs to McDonald’s will have you dropping pounds in no time.

Now with that wonderfully voluptuous summer body come relationships left and right. Especially with the cold weather and the upcoming Valentine’s Day season, Cupid is bound to hit you with one of those pointy little arrows of love. As February 14th draws near, you keep the hope that maybe, just maybe, that dream guy (or girl) will come with a big teddy bear in hand and a box of chocolates. Until its February 13th, 11:59 and there’s nothing but you a tub of ice cream and the movie, “The Notebook,” keeping you company. Just keep in mind: “New year; new you,” and true love is around the corner. Don’t give up your resolutions because that special someone passed you by. He just hasn’t noticed you yet.

Whether it’s wanting to drop a few pounds or wanting to get into a week-long relationship these new year, new me goals are getting out of hand. Start the year off fresh. Start the year off happy. Start the year off being proud of you and the accomplishments made in 2016. Happy 2017 to all, and I hope it’s a great year.
